Not every dark circle needs filler

Hollows, pigmentation and thin skin can all look like “dark circles” — and each one needs a different plan.

Three causes that look the same

A shadow from a hollow tear trough, brown pigment in the skin, and thin skin that shows the blood vessels underneath can all read as tiredness. Filler only helps the first one — and only when the anatomy is right for it.

How Dr. Momena assesses the under-eye

She looks at the area in natural and overhead light, from the front and from the side, and checks skin thickness and pigment before suggesting anything. Sometimes the right answer is skin-quality treatment, sometimes careful filler, and sometimes no treatment at all.

Why conservative matters here

The under-eye skin is thin and moves constantly. Overfilling can make the area look puffy. Small, precise amounts — or no filler — usually give the most natural result.

Start with an assessment, not a syringe. The cause decides the treatment.
